Dynamics of Colliding Plasma Plumes

This video from Andor shows the temporal and spatial evolution of two colliding laser produced plasmas at 5•10^10W/cm2. When the laser beam is split into two equal parts, the colliding plumes were obtained.

A layer of stagnated plasma is formed at the collision front, when two plasmas collide with each other. The colliding plasmas undergo interpenetration where the plasmas pass through each other without stagnating.
