ADVA Optical Networking has rolled out a new security collection to improve the FSP 3000 platform.
The security collection is comprised of three elements--management software architecture, in-service fiber plant monitoring, and wire-speed low-latency encryption.
Bringing encryption techniques into the optical networking solution recognizes the development of advanced intrusion and fiber-tapping technologies. The encryption techniques also allow data to flow swiftly across the fiber-optic network. The FSP 3000 encryption solution provides physical layer encryption that functions at wire speed, and keeps the latency at very low levels. ADVA utilizes the Diffie-Hellman algorithm for automatic key exchange and uses the Advanced Encryption Standard encryption technology. The algorithm and the encryption technology offer high-levels of security.
The FSP 3000 platform also has an integrated optical line monitoring potential that examines the power readings obtained from the fiber-optic link, and provides real-time analysis of the fiber facility. This helps in identifying fiber bends or breaks, and detecting security issues such as illegitimate fiber taps.
The Chief Technology Officer of ADVA, Christoph Glingener stated that security collection of the FSP 3000 platform offer companies a solution to protect the transfer of data between the data centers, thus lowering costs and optimizing security.
